Replacing Important hardware, can I still keep current XP settings and programs without re-installin

I'm about to replace/upgrade my systemboard, CPU, memory, and
videocard in my win XP computer.

Now, I was wondering if I can restore a backup of my old systemstate
and windows- and program files-directories (as I have done in the past
using windows backup program) and put it over a fresh installation of
XP with the new hardware? Or would the old hardware settings be
restored as well, and not work with the new hardware?

I really don't want to reinstall dozens of programs and drivers again.

Restoring will place everything from the old system into the new. Most
of the time a repair install (requires the CD) will resolve it, but not
100% of the time.
