replaced my hard drive and installed xp, and lost all capabilities to use my sound card!!!!HELP!!!

the other day i replaced my hard drive, and after loading windows xp on it, i started up my computer and there was no sound....i've run through every troubleshooting checklist i can possibly think of, and still no sound. i have a VIA AC'97(WDM) sound card, and for the life of me, can't get the thing to work. can someone PLEASE help me?!?!?!?!
 
You might want to check to see if the sound card's is plugged in correctly and if you didn't by chance knock a wire loose somewhere. Make sure all of them are tight. One may be loose and you wouldn't know it.
