No sound on my speakers

I'm using window media player 10 and Window xp,There is no sound coming from
my speakers but the music seems to play.I have checked everything and shows
everything is okey.Nothing has been muted everything is okey.I have bought
new speakers but still i experience the same problem. I'm using VIA AC'97
ENHANCED AUDIO CONTROLLER (WDM).Anybody please help me with this problem.What
can i do?

bit lacking in detail
when did it stop working - has it ever worked
can you get other sounds (like windows startup music)
are you playing a cd directly or music you have saved on your harddrive

if you have never got sound at all I expect its the sound driver
= unistall reinstall in control panel

if its stopped with mp10 then suggest you set digital sound and try that
let me know more details if this fails

Is this onboard sound? If it is, go to the windows update page and get the
hardware drivers for the sound and it should fix the problem.
