Nisse,
As Will said, you will lose the Windows update hotfixes, after performing a
repair install. If you're going to perform a Clean installation, backup your
data first. Instead of applying all the Windows Updates after a clean
install, you can slipstream the Windows XP SP2 Network Installer package
with the XP CD and create an integrated CD. Then do a Clean installation.
Slipstreaming SP2 with Windows XP is explained here:
http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=7262. I used Autostreamer, which took
~30 min to copy/integrate the files/create the ISO.

Note: This package is huge (>260MB). For a much smaller package, you should
wait for few more days (3-4) till it becomes available via the Windows
Update / Automatic Updates. This package is expected to be much smaller (say
100MB or so). Once integrated the SP2 with XP CD, should you need a visual
aid on Clean installing XP, see the MVP site below:

Hi there,
got some problems with my XP pro and want to make a new "clean" install.
If I select "repair", will my programs still be intact after repairing or do
I have to reinstall everything?
