Repairing Win2000

J

Jeff Hull

I got a "system files corrupted" dialog box (see Original
Problem below) & could not reinstall my HP895Cxi printer.
Using my boot diskettes & emergency repair diskette, I
tried to repair Win2000 (select repair). After repair, I
still could not install my printer. Tried again, same
result.

So I performed a new install of Win2000 (to C:\WINNT2 to
be sure it did not overwrite all of my installed
applications - about 10GB worth - they are still sitting
there in Program Files). What is the best way to get them
(re)registered, file extension associations set, etc?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you have the disks I would suggest re installing them while booted to the
new install of Win 2k, into the same folders they are now in.
This will save disk space and allow access to the programs from the new Win
2k install.

I couldn't find your original message. What was the exact text and error
codes you received. A blue screen? Cannot log in? Have you tried an
in-place upgrade?
