Repairing mailbox file

I am currently experiencing a problem in that everytime I open Outlook it
takes around 17 mins to open and displays the message "repairing mailbox".
Outlook is configured to use an Exchange Server (Exchange 2000) and is set
to use Exchange Cached mode.

Once Outlook has repaired the mailbox everything works as expected.

Does anybody know a way to prevent Outlook from trying to repair the mailbox
on startup or does anybody have any thoughts on why Outlook suspects the
mailbox to be in need of repair.

TIA

Craig

I suspect that what it's repairing is not the mailbox on the server but the local offline folders .oft file. This can get damaged if Outlook isn't shut down properly.
