Repair xp home

Trying to repair my xp home, after pressing F8 - the agreement, it give me 3
options
1/ to set up window on the selected item, press ENTER
2/ to create the partition... press C
3/ to delete ... press D

So does that means there is no 'repair function' in the CD.... need advice
urgently and if so, do I just power off the machine to get out.... any advice
asap please

Sori found it F3 twice to get out. May I know what kind of XP home CD will
have the repair function in it?

Do you mean I have to hit "ENTER'' as in your and then be prompted to choose
windows installation to repair?

Also the problem now is the pc will keep rebooting as mention in in my post
under
"On pc Safe mode menu or F8" at 11/16/2005 4.22 am. It will go to show xp
logo and soon after that reboot and repeat the same sequence. Pls advice,
thanks

Dixonian69,

I just carry out 1 step further that is on the line you mentioned, I hit
'enter' and it gives me this message

'you chose to install win xp on a partition that contains another operating
system............'
+ to continue Setup usingthis partition, press c
+ to select a different partition, press ESC

so it appears that there is no 'repair option' as mention in
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

On the rebooting, when I did the above, it did "not keep rebooting" so I
guess the rebooting is due to 'software issue than hardware'

The CD I use is from another pc, xp home as my own pc does not come with the
Recovery CD, its in the hd but have my own cd key sticker.

So any idea what can I do next apart from Sys Recovery which is not the
prefered choice, thanks

I repeat my previous comments!!!!!!
What CD do you have to "repair" Windows?
What make model do you have?

Note: text from previous link
OEM Restore disks or hidden restore folders on the hard drive will not work
for the Repair Install.

I think you have to use "Recovery CD" provided by Pbell.
Depending on option chosen, I don't think it will erase you hard drive

Shouldn't be anything wrong with using System restore.
It "may" erase HD in which case you will lose personal files unless you can
somehow back them up first.
(again I don't know everything about Pbell computers system restore and you
haven't given me any help to assist you:: model and make)

I don't know if it's going to work!!!

Proceed at your own risk.
If you want follow procedure provided.

You should be doing recovery with Pbell cd!!
How can you do system recovery if you don't have a recovery cd??
Never said make or Model??????????????????????????????????????

you don't give info requested how do you expect me to help you???????????????

No, System Restore will not erase the hard drive. I don't know what his
problem is, and it may or may not help him, but it won't erase the drive.

you can somehow back them up first.

There's no such thing as "Pbell computers system restore." System Restore is
a Windows function, not one provided by the manufacturer. If you're going to
give advice here, please be very careful to get the terminology right. Don't
mix up System Restore with a manufacturer's recovery CD, which returns the
hard drive to the condition it was when it left the factory.
