repair install????

Hi folks, bit of a curly one... Windows XP Home won't see the sd-RW drive,
although the BIOS picks it up ok, and will boot from it. device manager
gives me the yellow exclaimation mark along with the message that windows
can't load the drivers due to them being corrupted or missing. After trying
various things a repair reinstall was the next option. However when i boot
from the CD and go to install, it doesn't give me the option to perform a
repair install, only a format and clean install... what am I missing here,
and anyone have any other suggestions? I'm not that keen on a clean install
if there's another way.., Cheers....

yeah, Thanks Tom, I already read it, but it didn't help, but while playing
Deep Purple's Child in Time at max Volume on the 5.1 surround system, I
thought to do a system restore back to March this year. After that, I
re-booted with the CD and the option was there... Thanks again... All the
best
