Repair install with no disk.

I bought my OEM version of Windows XP home along with other computer
components about 3 years ago. Recently my motherboard failed and I have
replaced it with an exact make and model. Now I gather the correct procedure
for a replacement motherboard is to do a repair install and then re-activate.
However, after searching my house several times I cannot find my XP disk,
though I still have the license key sticker on my case. Is it necessary to do
a repair install? If it is, do I need the disk? Can I use someone else's XP
disk to do a repair install and then register it with the product key that is
on my case? Please help me as I do not fancy ripping my house to pieces
looking for the disk I have stupidly mislaid.

Hi Dom

Following the MB replacement you will need to carry out a repair install if
the PC won't work, you may be lucky! If you need to repair you will need the
disk but you can use another copy if you can't find your own as long as you
use your licence key. Remember a repair install will remove all service packs
and updates so best to use a SP2 edition disk and visit windows updates on
completion. Good luck!!
