Repair IE Q903235

I need to repair my Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106IS.
When I go into Control Panel, ADD/Remove & scroll down I only find Internet
Explorer Q903235...when I click on Add/Remove it only offers me the option of
Uninstalling. This is unlike what I've read everywhere as it says there
should be a different designation for Internet Explorer and tools & should
give me the option to remove or repair.
Should I just uninstall and reinstall?? It's my church's computer and I am
scared I'll mess something up. We do not yet afford to have a back up system.
Please help!!!!!!

Make sure your anti-virus is turned off.
The section
Windows XP and Windows XP SP1: Edit the registry and install Internet
Explorer 6
works on earlier versions of Windows.
If you are using WinXP SP2 you will have to uninstall that first.

Also, what behavior makes you think you have to repair IE? If the problem
is caused by spyware or some other third party program reinstalling or
repairing IE won't fix it.

I apologize, I should have mentioned that I am using Windows 2000 Pro and
not XP.
Also, I have run various scans and am certain I have no adware/spyware or
virus' etc. I have the computer pretty tightly protected.
I keep getting the message "Microsoft Internet Explore has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." Any ideas?

The most likely cause is interfering third-party programs (e.g., most likely
but not necessarily, malware) and IE Repair won't help with that.
In fact, it could make things worse by partially breaking hooks and leaving
bits of them still embedded.

However, your OS does allow you to use IE's Repair tool
even if you don't see an item for IE in the Add/Remove Programs list.

E.g. Run... (press Win-R and enter
rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance
and then follow the dialog you were expecting to see.

Again, don't be suprised if this doesn't help avoid your symptom
(which you have yet to disclose.) Essentially you have been asking us
to diagnose problems with a self-prescribed solution to undisclosed
symptoms.

Thank you so very much. Your reply has been most helpful and I will go back
and reevaluate everything taking more care to discover exactly when and where
we're having the problem. I do know for certain that it is not malware as I
have carefully run programs to search out any, and I nor anyone else has
installed any programs within the past 8 months. Also, I have just today
discovered from our church secretary (first time she's even mentioned
this...I don't ordinarily use the church computer) that it has on a few
occasions rebooted itself. I make certain that the internet cache and temp
files are cleaned out regularly so I will have to go back & review everythin.
The last time I had a computer that rebooted itself, it was the registry but
in this case, I haven't a clue since no changes have been made to the
computer. Again I thank you for the means of repairing internet explorer and
I won't use it unless I have no other recourse.
