Hi all,
My wife and I have a Lexmark printer networked through a small router.
The printer is hosted by my PC, which has XP Pro on it. My wife has XP
Home on her machine.
The problem is that Quicken refuses to print to this printer, even
though every other application works fine.
Someone said the problem is a glitch in Quicken where the printer name
includes the word "ON" (i.e. \\Lexmark Z52 ON HisPC on NE04") The
Quicken "gurus" (LOL Sarcastically) said to rename the printer to
where the path doesn't include the word "ON" in it.
However, in XP Home, there are no "Administrator" privileges; my wife
is set up as "Owner" with full privileges, but the ability to rename
the printer is not there. She can navigate to the printer on MY side
(trhough Windows Explorer) and rename it, but it does nothing to
change it on HER computer.
Are we missing something about XP Home? Is there a way to rename the
printer---and remove the "ON"---at her machine?
All the Quicken "gurus" (LOLS again) seem to point to renaming the
printer on the client PC, yet none of them have a clue how to do it,
other than "right-click the printer and select 'Rename'..."
Duh. If this had worked the first time, I wouldn't be HERE looking for
some REAL help!
I understand this is a Quicken issue; but I'm hoping for some help
from someone here concerning how we might be able to resolve this
through XP Home.
I've renamed the printer on MY computer (XP Pro), but again, it does
absolutely nothing on her side.
Thanking you in advance for any help,
LordFarquaad
