Vista printer sharing problem

I can't find a vista newsgroup so here it goes: I'm trying to get my wifes
laptop running vista to connect to the printer on my pc. For some reason I
keep getting an windows denies access message. In her network
configurations it says the printer requires a password? I've looked at her
security settings and I can't figure this out. I'm in there as the
administrator. My vista laptop connected just fine. Any ideas?

TIA

Paul.

Some Vista Newsgroups:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.general
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.hardware_devices
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.performance_maintenance

Did you map the printer with Simple sharing or did you enter the
username/password from the computer where the printer share is?

Thanks for the newsgroup suggestions. Those newsgroups don't show up on
my x-news newsgroups, they must be a web based deal.

Well, for some reason the password protected printer access was checked,
so I disabled that, no difference even after re-booting. I just did a
basic printer share, same as I did on my laptop. The printer shows up, I
can see it sitting there on the network, but when I try to add it I get
the windows denies access message. File sharing is not password
protected either.

They are not web-based. They are the actual Microsoft newsgroups on the
microsoft servers (although many of those newsgroups are being synchronized
both ways by many third party news servers.)

http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

( see the newserver address there... msnews.microsoft.com )

You might get more experienced assistance in a Vista specific group. ;-)

Point your nntp newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com

I see that you've already gotten answers, but let me point that the
absence of the newsgroups has nothing to do with x-news, nor with
their being a web-based deal. If they aren't available to you, the
reason is that the news server you are using doesn't carry them.

This may be an account problem. I have found that it is simplest to ensure
that the account that exists on the laptop also exists on the PC that has
the pinter (in both username and password). If the password is aked for
when you try to use the printer, just type it in. It will only ask for it
once unless the passwords get changed.
