renaming . jpg photos

N

Nickie

After downloading photos from camera to computer I then
rename the photos always leaving .jpg at the end.
Example: Rename P1010091.jpg to
1Kelly,Sara,Heather.jpg. After renaming photos they
appear numerically in my Windows and Fax Viewer and when
I put them on a CD they still remain numerical, but when
I go to my Microsoft Picture it Program or Camedia
program they are scattered. Example: 1, 10, 100, l01,
l03 etc. In particular I made three CDs of 160 photos
and on my computer they are all numerical but when I
passed them to a friend to view on her computer they all
scattered like in microsoft picture it and camedia
program. These are recordable CDs so cannot figure why
they are renumbering themselves on the CDs as well as my
to software programs. Thank you in advance for your
help. Nickie

Sorry Yves...but your method will not work in
Picture It! 2002 and earlier. And how did
Win2000 get involved...it was not mentioned.

This person is making CDs and sending them to friends and wants the pictures
to open in the order she puts them using XP. The reference I gave her
explains why others may not see the pictures in the same order, different
softwares use different sorting rules. The renaming rules I use have worked
so far with friends with 98, 2000, my daughter who has a Mac and with
Picture It Version 7. Camedia I don't know.

Well OK...but it does not work in Picture It! 2002
and earlier and since that's what the question was
about I thought you might be interested. If the OP
had PI7 she wouldn't be asking the question.
