Removing Windows 2000

I used to have both Windows 2000 and XP installed on my PC and so every time
when the PC boot, it asked me to choose the OS to boot from.

Recently, I decided to remove 2000 and so I simply formated the partition
that contains 2000. However, now every time the PC boots, it still asks me to
choose the OS to boot from although the boot will fail if I choose 2000 now.

How can I stop the PC from asking me which OS to boot from now?

Locate the boot.ini file in the boot partition and edit out the
pointer to the non-existent Windows 2000.

Edit the boot.ini by removing the line for W2k.
Right click MyComputer.
Click Properties > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery settings button > System
Startup edit button.
The boot.ini will now be open in Notepad.
Delete the W2k line entry.
Save and close.
