I have install Win XP to a Win 98 PC and have a boot
screen to select Win XP or Win 98. How do I remove Win XP
and revert to only Win 98.

Normally, assuming Win9x is installed to the C: drive, you'd just
have to boot from your Win98/Me startup diskette, type "SYS C:." Then
delete C:\NTLDR, C:\NTDETECT.COM, C:\BOOT.INI, C:\BOOTSEC.DOS, and
C:\PAGEFILE.SYS. Delete or reformat the WinXP directory/partition, as
applicable. Remove the startup diskette and reboot.

And the PC will not longer boot at all.

I have done as you suggest but I did not format or remove
the drive that Win XP reside and the message 'ntldr is
missing' when boot. Must I format or physically remove the
drive. It not a partition but a different hard disk.

If you're getting that message, you have _not_ performed the "SYS
C:" to replace the master boot record.

How do I do that?

Then your Win98 boot disk probably doesn't contain Sys.com. Try
another one.
