Removing unchecked sevices in system configuator?

Is there a way to remove the unchecked services in msconfig startup? I know
how to remove the unchecked startup items by using regedit, but not the
services. I changed the services I did not want starting to "manual" and
also unchecked them in msconfig. I would like to set the system
configurator back to "normal startup" if possible.

Thanks

look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and search for
the services listed by "DisplayName" - probably best to change the "Start"
value for the service to 4 (disabled) rather than deleting the entries.

Thanks, but it isn't working. When I change the start value to 4, the
check boxes still show. When I select normal startup, the services run at
start up and the registry then displays 2 as the start value. Also, mine
has ControlSet001 and ControlSet002 which seems to be the same as
CurrentControlSet except the the start vale was 3 in 001 and 4 in 002,
before I did any editing. If it is possible to remove the checkboxes for
the starup items in msconfig, there should be a way to do it for services.

Thanks. Any thing I might be doing wrong?
