Kate,
If you're referring to the Quick Launch toolbar, then you can simply
right-click the unwanted icons and then choose "Delete". The entries you see
there are actually shortcuts, while the original program may exist in a safe
location somewhere under the Program Files or anywhere else. To know if an
icon is a shortcut to a program, right-click the icon and choose Properties.
Click the General tab to know what type of file that is.
To reduce clutter, I drag the Taskbar to make it two rows high and then dock
the Quick Launch toolbar to the right side of my Taskbar (I prefer that
area).

Is there any way to remove taskbar buttons from the lower left of the
taskbar? They're taking up a ton of room, and some of them I never use. I
can't just completely remove the programs, though, as this is a work
computer. Anyone have any idea?
