I am trying to figure out how to remove startup programs
that are not necessary, so when I log-in it doesn't take
so long to load.

Go to Start/Run and type: msconfig and click OK. Go to the Startup Tab
and uncheck
any programs you want to prevent from starting when the system boots. If
this fixes the problem, then run the following script to remove the disabled
items from the registry and the msconfig list.

Clear Disabled Items from Msconfig Startup (Line 148)

You will still be able to use these programs by starting them manually.
