removing programs

Theres a program that I am trying to remove from my
computer, but when I try to uninstall it through the
add/remove programs funtion in the control panel, nothing
happens. Is there anything I can do to remove this
program for good?
 
Can you start the program from an icon in the Programs folder or is it just
a "left over" in the Add/Remove Programs dialog?
If so, you can delete it from the Add/Remove Program dialog if you edit the
Registry in the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Find your program and delete it.

If you can start the program you can always delete the folder(s) for it and
then delete all references in the Registry to it.
