removing old XP boot

I have two copies of XP installed on my system. No other versions.
I want to get rid of one of them. I removed it from my startup options
file, so it automatically boots into the correct one. Can I simply delete
the folder where the old installation was (eg C:WINNT)? The installation
I want is in C:WINDOWS. What's the correct way to remove the
unwanted boot completely?

Thanks.
