Removing names from an MS Outlook "To" drop down menu?

I am using MS Outlook to compose an e-mail. When I type the 1st few letters
of the recipient's name into the "To" field, a pop-up menu is displayed
showing all names of people I previously e-mailed that start with those
letters. How do I remove names from that pop-up menu?

select one of them the use your Delete key, it will magically be gone the
next time you try to send a message to a similar name.

I have a similar question: I deleted a personal contact file (that was listed in my "accounts" settings), thinking it was superfluous, but now I do not have a list of addresses in the auto fill when I type in the "To" or CC/BCC fields, nor does an address book pop up when I click on the TO or other fields...how can I restore it?

Thank you!

Exactly what file did you delete? If it was a file, you should have been
able to restore it from your Recycle Bin.
