Removing Fonts

I have gotten a message box that tells me I have more than 500 fonts on this
computer and that some need to be removed for files to display properly. How
do I remove fonts?

To completely remove fonts from the hard disk:

· Go to the Control Panel, then select Fonts folder.

· Click the font you want to remove. To select more than one font at a time,
press and hold down the CTRL key while you click each font.

· On the File menu, click Delete.

· When you receive the "Are you sure you want to delete these fonts?" prompt,
click Yes.

What piece of software is making this complaint? I have 707 font files
on this machine, and have never seen such a suggestion. Which leads me
to think you have a badly written program there

Microsoft Word is making this complaint. Everytime I open a new OR old
file. Can't imagine this would be a "Badly written program". And it has
never done this before. It just started around Christmas time. Mrturtle

Dear Mr. Nichol,
I picked up on this thread because I'm having the same problem. Each time I
open 'Microsoft Works' I get the warning that I have over 500 fonts and that
my screen might not display correctly. Actually the display is okay, I'd
just like to get rid of the warning message.
This message came after I did a re-install from a CD of a genealogy
programme I have called Ultimate Family Tree. I assume the re-install added
additional fonts.
Obviously I don't want to delete fonts that will disrupt other programmes.
Can you propose a safe method of selecting fonts to delete that wont effect
other programmes?
By the way I note the icon for some fonts is TT (True Type) and other are
"O" I'm not sure of the difference.

I'd wager Alex is having a good laugh at the expense of all the folks down
here on Earth that he left with unresolved tech support issues.
