I have windows XP home addition and i have a big blue bar going up and down on the left hand side of my desktop, that shows folder task, Other places, and Details, How do i remove this from my desktop. it appeared after i tried changing the time on my screen saver from 1 hour to 30 mins.

The bar you are referring to is the task bar. Somehow you hav dragged it over to the side of your screen

Click and hold your left mouse button on a plain area (no icons) and while holding down left mouse button drag back down to bottom of screen

i'm sorry but its not the task bar i still have the task bar on bottom. this has "folder tasks" which if you click on a icon it will show rename or delete this item, "other places" which shows my doc's,shared doc's and my network, the last one is "details" which shows what the icon is when it was modified and size of icon.

Can you please post a screenshot of your desktop to help us look into this for you.

Thanks,

Wiz

This is the Common Tasks Bar.

To remove it:

1. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer.

2. Use the Tools menu and press Folder Options.

3. Select the General tab.

4. Check the Use Windows classic folders radial button.

5. Press the Apply button.

6. Select the View tab in the Folder Options dialog.

7. Press the Apply to All Folders button.

8. When prompted, press Yes in the Folder views dialog.

9. Press OK.

If that still doesn't cure it then let me know as there is a more complicated way via the cmd prompt.

No pic here mate, when you go to post a reply click on manage attachments, click on browse, then upload. It will then show up at the bottom of your post. :)

Right click near the bottom of the unwanted toolbar (but still on it), goto toolbars and untick the ticked folder.
OR
As above but click close toolbar

I've right clicked all over it and nothing
P. S. I have 2 comps. doing it, and 3 its never touched
