Remove startup password

I want to remove the startup password from my Compaq Prolinea 5120. F10
Setup won't let me do this; is there another way?

Open the computer case, and remove the battery from the main board

According to the manual there's an on-board jumper, E6, that enables or
disables the password. Position 1-2 enable, 2-3 disable.
