Remove Dial-up Account?

Background: (Using Vista Ultimate, 64 bit) For years I
used a dial-up account (I'll call it dial-up#1) from ISP#1.
ISP#1 gave me 60 days notice of its intention to discontinue
dial-up service. I added ISP#2, and now use dial-up#2.
During the transition I used both dial-up accounts, and on
Windows Mail the send/receive button provided a drop-down
option of which ISP to use. If, instead of using the
drop-down option, I just clicked on the basic button it
tried to send and receive on both dial-up accounts, and
there would be an error message for the dial-up account that
was not currently connected. So, as long as I had both
dial-up accounts I did not mind using the drop-down menu and
selecting the ISP I wanted.

Problem: I no longer use (it is no longer available)
dial-up#1, but the drop-down option to do so is still
present on the Window Mail send/receive button. I'd prefer
to use the basic send/receive button, but it still then
tries to send and receive on both dial-up accounts. How can
I get rid of dial-up account#1 on Windows Mail? (I have
already deleted it from the Vista network and connections
center, but Windows Mail still acts as if dial-up#1 is
available.)

Thanks for any insight.

Under Windows Mail => Tools => Accounts I was able to delete
dial-up#1 and things seem to work well now.

Go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Connection.
What does it show for connection?
You must either leave that box unselected (in which case WM will use
whatever connection IE uses), or else select the Local Area Network.

Also, under Tools, Options, Connection, the first box should be checked,
and the second box unchecked.

Good to hear. Did you see my earlier response?

Not until I had figured it out myself. I posted my
resolution at 2:43 pm, and your suggestion is listed as 3:06
pm. I'm sure you knew what to do immediately while it took
me hours to figure it out. Thanks.
