On Broadband But Dial-up Pop-up In WM

My new laptop has Vista and I cannot receive email from my server in Windows
Mail because the dial-up pop-up automatically appears even though I have been
in tools>options>accounts>properties etc. to disable it. I have been able to
send an email without this drama so what can be done to make progress past
this annoyance?

There are two places to disable the Dial-up request.

You said that you had been to tools>options>accounts>properties, but you did
not say what you did there?
You need to go to the connections tab, and remove the checkmark from "always
connect using">apply>OK.
Now WM will use any available connection.

Secondly open Internet Explorer, (web browser) tools menu>internet
options>connections tab> select "never dial a connection">apply>OK.

That should sort it for you.

Thanks for your reply but these courses of action had already been attempted
numerous times, even at Computer Club, to no avail. Eventually it was decided
to remove the entire email account and establish a new one. Bingo! Problem
solved.

Apparently the "connection" command had developed a memory for dial-up which
it wouldn't erase to recognise broadband.
