Remove 2000pro from dual boot with XPpro

I had Windows 2000pro installed first then later added XPpro on a different
partion. XP is the default startup but I also have the choice to start 2000.
I would like to completely remove Windows 2000 but not sure how to go about
doing this. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

You will have to copy a few files from the 2kPro drive to the
winXPPro drive. ntldr, ntdetect.com and Boot.ini. In order to see these
files you will have to go to WinExplorer>
Tools>Folder Options>View>click on Show Hidden files and Folders and
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Once you have the files
copied you can use the
WinXP Recovery Console to repair the Boot.ini file. For more info on
that check here. You will primarily interested in the Bootcfg command.

My be a little to complicated for me. Is repairing the boot.ini file a
option in the recovery console or do you have to use a command?

When in the Recovery Console, at the Prompt, type: Bootcfg /rebuild
This will then allow you to format or delete the Win2K partition.

Another alternative is to delete everything you don't want on the
Win2K partition except those boot files I told you
to copy. Then rt click MyComputer>select Properties>Advanced>Startup
and Recovery-Settings. Select WinXP Pro has your default OS and change the
time to select operating
systems to 3 seconds. This will just about automatically boot you
into WinXP but leave you with the two partitions.
