Remote Reboot of Hung XP Pro System??

J

I was working remotely through RD to my XP Pro machine,
when the connection was lost, and I have not been able to
connect since. I believe the box hung during the session,
but I am not sure. I can still RD to other boxes. Outside
of having someone physically reboot the system, is there
any way to remotely restart the box, or verify the cause
of the error?

If the affected machine is on a network, and you can reach other machines on
that network, you may be able to use either the tsshutdn or shutdown
command-line applications to restart it.

At at cmd prompt, tsshutdn /? <enter>
shutdown /? <enter>

Well - you have to address the other machine. If you have an IP on the same
subnet as the other machine, that should work, otherwise not. If you can't
ping it, I think you're going to need local physical intervention.
