I have the same problem with my computer displaying a
message that starts a 1 minute countdown timer and says
that the NT authority/system is shutting down the computer
and it had something to do with a "remote procedure call".

I have read several emails in the Newsgroup about this
virus and how to fix it but they all assume that the
person with the problem is using Norton Anti-virus. I
have Mcafee anti-viral software. Can someone tell me how
to remove the virus using Mcafee? Please help.

Thanks,

Pat

Using McAfee, I ran the update and McAfee removed the
file automatically...assuming the bug doesn't shut you
down before Mcafee is finished. You then have to
download and install the MS fix which you can find in
another msg in this list.

Thanks for the feedback!

Get this patch too, it's a fix for Buffer Overrun in Server Message
Block (SMB) which is the Internet Standard protocol that Windows uses to
share files, printers, serial ports, and to communicate between
computers using named pipes and mail slots.
