Remote Procedure Call Service Terminated

I've recently reinstalled windows XP Pro and after
getting online experience an NT Authority/System shut-
down warning saying the Remote Procedure Call Service has
been terminated and windows will now shutdown. Do I have
a virus on this box?

You have a virus = Mblaster Follow the steps below.

1. Go to control Panel> Network connections > *Your
connection* rt click >properties, Advanced Tab, check to
enable> The Firewall.

2. Do a Ctrl + Alt + DeL , on task manager highlight
MBlaster and end Process.

3. Go here and download the fix.

Most replies seem to be missing the most important piece
of help for you. That is undoing the RPC shutdown which
will terminate your connection and in a lot of cases
interupt the repair you are trying to obtain and apply. To
fix this go>start\control panel\administrative
tools\services and scroll down until you find RPC. Double
click to open it or right click and choose open and then
click the recovery tab. Now make a note of how it is
configured then in all three recovery options drop down
list make sure the choice is set to "restart the service"
and then close your way out and then go get the fix. Keep
smiling.

If you've connected the PC to the Internet without having first
enabling a firewall, without having first installed an antivirus
application with current virus definition files, and/or before
installing the KB824146 Hotfix, you're very likely to have been
infected from any of the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are
constantly broadcasting the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only
takes a few seconds of exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.
