remote music server

I want to setup a PC upstairs with 2x 120 gb hard drives
in a stripe set to store uncompressed (wav) music files.
This pc will have a "Pro" level soundcard and be connected
to an audio system for distribution throughout the house.
The question I have is can I use my laptop (via the
wireless network I have installed) to remotely control the
PC upstairs to playback the music playlists. I know it
can be done but can it be done with standard windows xp
running on the machines or do I need special remote logon
type software?
Thanks

the software you need is included in Microsoft Windows XP Professional
in the form of Remote Desktop Connection, start>all
programs>Accesories>communications>Remote Desktop Connection

User name = Music Server/User Name ie. MUSICPC/GUEST

remember windows XP only allows one session at a time therefore you
would only be able to use the laptop whilst connected in this way.

you could also use NetMeeting - requires knowing the IP address found
by Start>Run>ipconfig.exe

I believe RDC isn't included in the Home edition of XP therefore the
latter would be the best option
