One solution is to purchase a 3.5mm stereo "Y" plug from an electronics
store. Basically you plug the male part into your soundcard speakers socket
and then you can plug two sets of speakers into the female parts.

I have this arrangement, one line to standard PC speakers for games etc and
one line to Active Audio monitors for pure music and it works perfectly.

BTW, this type of plug is not to be confused with a stereo splitter, left
and right channels.

Cheers,
Jerry

It depends a lot on the distance and also the cost. Do a little research on
the different models and prices before deciding. My friend has a pair of
speakers in his basement while the main unit is in his upstairs spare bedroom
and they sound terrific.
