I'm fairly profficient with XP but this little problem has been annoying me
for a week+.
I'm trying to use RD on a system w/in a LAN behind a NAT router. The system
giving me the problems has all the configurations for using remote desktop
but the tcp port 3389 isn't open or listening so I get no connection. If I go
into the firewall settings rd is checked but netstat -a shows 3389 isn't open
or even listening.

Help is appreciated and thank you for looking!

Hi -

First test to see if you can connect using RDP from another computer on the
same LAN.
Then confirm that the windows firewall on the host PC allows RDP connections
from any subnet
Then confirm that the host PC has a non-changing LAN IP
Then confirm that the firewall/router passes all 3389 traffic from
WAN-->that LAN IP
