RDP not working - vista ultimate

Hi,
Have been able to RD to my home pc running vista ultimate fine, through
the
router (port forward of 3389 to internal ip), up until about a week ago?
I have checked the Windows Firewall configuration, in Exceptions RDP is
there and I have also enabled port 3389 in the Exceptions. Netstat -a does
not show port 3389 listening.

Now I cannot rdp to the pc from either an xp or svr2003 machine on the
local subnet, or remotely . Anyone know if any recent updates has somehow
disabled rdp ???

Thanks in Advance,

Hi Peter,

Not aware of any issues with a recent update and RDP. In fact, I'm up to
date on all my Vista systems and have no problem with that function.

Can you see shared folders on that system?
Rechecked RD properties on that system?
Rechecked port forwarding in the router?

Hi Rick,
Restarted the pc last night, and now port 3389 is listening, able
now to local and remote RDP OK. Strange that when previously setting the
exceptions in Windows Firewall there was no port 3389 entries when netstat
-a, even after disabling/enabling the NIC.

Anyway, all is well thanks

Hi,

When it comes to networking, a restart is often required when any changes
have been made so that it is reinitialized. I suspect this may be what was
causing your problems.
