Remote Desktop fails

I'm getting failures with MsTsc.exe 6.0.6000.16386. It fires up normally,
but as soon as I hit connect, the login screen appears as normal, but then it
gets covered by an error msg box stating "Remote Desktop Connection has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." The application is now hung. Sending the error report
doesn't result in anything, and I've searched unsuccessfully through Technet
for something similar. How can I resolve this?

Have you tried uninstalling the RDP 6.0 client then reinstalling?

No, I hadn't tried that. I didn't know it was an option. How do you
reinstall it?
