RDC crashes on connect

I use RDP version 6.1 to connect to client servers. Saved connections I have
used for years are no longer working. I can't RDC thorugh a VPN or across a
local network.

"Remote Desktop Connection has encountered a problem and needs to close."

RDC opens normally. It crashes when I try to connect. I get the following
in Event Viewer:

Faulting application mstsc.exe, version 6.0.6001.18000, faulting module
mstscax.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, fault address 0x0015b2f5.

This only happens in my local profile. If I login as the local
administrator RDC works fine.

I am using Windows XP Home SP3. I installed SP3 a few months ago and I
don't suspect it is the problem. I also cleared the terminal server cache in
my profile.

Thanks!

Did you try to uninstal and reinstall RD on your PC?
check out autorization for your local account on the work directories of RD
in your pc too.

I figured this one out by chance. I ran Malwarebytes anti malware sfotware
on my XP laptop. It found a few Trojans - I don't remember which ones. RDP
works fine now! I sometimes wonder how many problems on this site are
related to viruses.
