remote assistance

I tried to connect to my friends computer and i got the
following error message

Remote Assistance connection could not be established
because the remote host name could not be resolved.
Please try again.

how do i solve it

This probably caused by Remote Assistance can't get your public IP address,
have you try this,

Please excuse my outrageous ignorance but how do I check
if my
computer is behind a firewall ?

My fault, the computers that you are trying to connect to
are I assume through some kind of high speed service? If
there is a box between your high speed modem and your
computer, it may be a firewall, or using XP, you can also
enable XP firewall software. Basically, you end up
stopping the packets (ports) from getting through to the
computer.

Actually, my connection is currently a slow dialup, while
my friend has a high speed service.Also I have'nt
actively enabled XP firewall software.
