Remote Assistance Unattended

M

Meinhard

May be my question is a little bit stupid but I think there are some
more developer having the same problem.

For remote assistance there are two ways within Windows XP:
Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance.

I can't use remote desktop because when taking control about a remote
machine it's not possible to have a simultaneous look to the desktop at
the remote machine.

When using remote assistance there must be somebody at the remote
machine who answers all the questions before taking control.
Now my question:
Does anybody know a way to setup a remote control with remote assistance
without a lot of clicks and a login file which never expires?
Or is the only solution VNC Viewer?

Thanks for any answer
Meinhard

Hi Meinhard,

Remote Assistance requires user intervention so that the machine is taken
over only with the users' consent. It is designed for one person to give
assistance to another. The "expert" need not have a user profile on the
remote machine, they are working on it with the consent of the user.

Remote Desktop is not the same thing, it is to allow you to access and work
normally from one machine while logged on to it from another. The person
accessing the remote machine must have a valid logon ID and password to use
the system resources.
Does anybody know a way to setup a remote control with remote assistance
without a lot of clicks and a login file which never expires?

No, the very nature of the process and security concerns requires these. I'm
not sure what you mean by this:
I can't use remote desktop because when taking control about a remote
machine it's not possible to have a simultaneous look to the desktop at
the remote machine.

Hi Meinhard,
You're details are a little vague as to what you're trying to accomplish
but it seems to me that Netmeeting would solve your problem if trying to
take over a remote computer/desktop is what you're trying to do. How it will
work in you're situation will depend on what kind of hardware/software setup
you have. The Help file for Netmeeting is pretty comprehensive in any case.

Good luck,

I've found information that's close to what your looking for. This means that
there is a solution to connect and view a users current session using "Remote
Assistance". The last part is about taking control of the users session
without his or her acceptance.

This should not be impossible if you're good at Javascript since that is
what Remote Assistance uses. The solution would to disable the display of a
dialog box at the same time as accepting the dialog box.

Have a look at this URL:
