remembering password

Jack

Outlook will not remember my passwords for the email
accounts I have - Even though I check the "remember
password" box.

I have to enter my password everytime I do a fresh launch
of the program. It will remember it while I have it
open. But once I close the program, I have to re-enter
each password.

I would appreciate any help - thanks.

For all Outlook versions on Windows XP (note, this article is written for OE
but the solution applies to Outlook as well. Just ignore the parts that
refer to OE):

Tried it a few days ago with no change. I am
intermittently asked to enter the user name and password
that are already noted in the prompt and just click ok
about four times and it goes through without problems.
Other times it doesn't ask and is able to get new mail
without a fuss. Too much energy is being spent on users
to appease a software taskmaster!!! Let's get a fix
posted from Microsoft for the version of Outlook that the
users PAID to get rather then one for OE!

Are you connecting to an Exchange Server?
What version of Outlook?
What is the exact message that you get? (Does
it include wanting your domain information?

1.It does not matter what the message is
2. It only seems to happen with Outlook XP and 2003..
with 2000 no problem
3. Current OS is XP Pro..

It seems that there is some issue like a timeout or
something that does not allow Outlook to connect to the
POP3 server without continually asking for the Password
to be confirmed..
I have been given numerous home cooked suggestions ..
like delete and re-create the user account etc. etc.. but
none seem to work
Actually given the number of complaints on this issue I
have seen on dozens of boards for months I am surprised
the Microsoft has not posted a fix..
but it is VERY FRUSTRATING !
