Remember passwords option no longer available

I realized recently that my computer stopped remembering my internet
passwords. I went into options to reselect the password option in auto
complete and it is greyed out, no longer available. How do I turn this back
on again?

This not only did not cause my IE option to become available, but it does not
prompt me for a password. So have I now just download spyware?

If I understand you then this has not worked? The fix is a visual basic
script vbx file which wil be spotted by your security software as per the
warning in red on the download page. Did the script run to give confirmation
of the regisrty edit? You should then be give the option to save a password
etc. I hope this helps.

when I loaded and executed the script I received a quick message that says
Internet Explorer will now prompt for passwords, however the option in IE is
still not available and it is NOT asking to remember my passwords, nor does
it.

There are also settings acessable through the tools menu of IE that will
influence this. Look at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;217148 and check your
seetings there. While there you may wish to clear your autocomplete history.

this is where I started. I go into internet tools and autocomplete, I have
cleared passwords, etc... nothing makes the remember passwords option
available.

Well JMILLAR I have one last thing to try but it involves editing the
registry. Have a look at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=885180 . I have
found no script for this one so far so a registry edit is necessary. If you
are happy to do this then try it but I have no suggestions beyond this to
offer.

thank you for all your help. Unfortunately nothing did resolve the screen
issue. I downloaded anti virus software and spybot software in case there
was something else causing my problems but unfortunately anything it found
and fixed, did not resolve this either.
