Had a crash a while back and I think that part of my
Windows system is missing. My question is can I put my
original Windows 2000 disk into the CD drive and run it
thru an installation to pick up the missing files? Will I
loose everything else that I have on my computer? Thank
You.

Yes, this is called an in-place upgrade. This MS Knowledge Base article
describes what it does, and what it doesn't:

Another option might be to use a repair operation, described in article
238359.

Best regards

Bjorn

Yes, you can boot from CD and attempt a 'Repair' install.
You should not lose any of your files (unless other corruption has occured).
