I received a msg in hotmail that an email didn't go thru...when i checked
it--it was spam with my email address, but I didn't send it. Is someone else
using my email address...what to do???

Hi,

Change your email address. This is very common, your address is being used
to spoof the real sender. There is little you can do to prevent it or stop
it.

Not much you can do. SPAMMERS user all sorts of tactics to try to get the
recipient to read their message, including making it look like their
messages come from legitimate e-mail addresses. Hotmail, as well as AOL
and other populate domain names are prime targets for this type of
activity.

Yes, this is a common spammer trick.
...what to do???

As a practical matter, there's not much you can do.
