My computer is pretty messed up right now (10 times slower than usual, error messages everywhere), and ive used every scan and maintenance utility i can find to try and fix it. Nothing is working
If i was to reinstall windows XP, would i lose any of my personal data, such as music and program files. If so, is there another way to fix my OS so that i wont lose anything?

Typically if you are wanting to reinstall any OS, it best to start with what is called a clean install. This means reformatting your hard so as to remove any files, programs, etc and then reinstalling the OS. I am about to do this myself. If you take the approach of just reinstalling XP or your OS without reformatting, there is agood chance that your problems will still remain or even worse more problems could arise. Obviously, if you reformat your hard drive, everything will be erased. To prevent this, backup all of the files that you do not want to lose and cannot live without. If you have a cd burner, copy the files to disk. If you have a second pc that has a network card and enough room to store the files you want to save, network the two machine together and then copy the files over to that machine. I hope this helps.
