Reinstalling XP after SP2 corrupted my system

I have XPHE and installed SP2. I had to reinstall XP, but after I did,
I found a lot of things didn't work. For one thing, everytime I start,
this new hardware wizard comes up offering to install a "Printer" (the
description is not anymore detailed than that) even though I don't
have a printer attached. A very large number of system errors appears
in the event viewer and a number of services won't start.

I've tried reinstalling again, and installing SP2, SP1... it goes on.
Nothing seems to be fixing this problem.

as long as your system boots up...
you can simply uninstall sp2 through the control panel
as you could various other windows components

if for any reason that does not work...
just bootup with your XP cd and perform a repair installtion.
after that just apply sp1

After I did the reinstallation I wasn't given the option of
uninstalling sp2. I even tried reinstalling sp2 so I could uninstall
it. It didn't seem to change anything.

That's what I meant when I said I tried reinstalling 2x. I've
tried the repair installation, but that doesn't fix anything either.
It's when a repair installation fails that I know I'm in over my head.
