XP Home & SP2

I recently wiped my hard drive and reinstalled XP Home (original version)

After finding out SP1 could not be downloaded I reluctantly decided to
install
SP2. After updating the MS updating software, it only offers 17 critical
updates,
I don't have the option to get SP2

any ideas?

Search the Microsoft download site for: WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2.exe

Autoupdate should take care of everything. you don't need anything and
autoupdate does it for you properly and gives you what your system
needs.

AFAIK, WindowsUpdate no longer supports Win XP without at least SP1. That
might be the reason for the lack of available updates.

The above statement is only true for hotfixes; you can always get
autoupdate for service packs. It will install it before other hotfixes.

Although I don't recommend it over SP2.

I think you'll find that installing those updates will eventually lead to it
offering you SP2.
You can also download it separately or order the CD:

Also note that support for basic and SP1 XP runs out this year.

You choose the network option on the page to get the SP1 update.
