Reinstalling Windows XP

I'm re-installing XP, no repair, totally reinstalling it on my computer. When
I get to the partition section there are 2 Partitions the first one only has
like 31 mb used and 24 free. The second partition (which is... NTF? or
something I can't think of it right off the top of my head) and that has a
lot of space. I pressed enter and it said that another operating system is on
it and its not recommended to put two systems on one partition, so I went to
delete that partition, but it said I was unable to because some things used
on it are needed later in the installation. Can anyone help?! It's greatly
appreciated!!!

Ok from what u hav said it seems that the ntfs partition has a windows os
installed and ur windows boot cd is using it for temporary installation
folder now if u dont want that partition means u have all ur files and stuff
safe in a different medium then use fdisk.exe from windows boot floppy first
to delete the drive then run ur windows cd. that should fix the problem. u
can use any software (like partition magic too) i just gave fdisk for ease
of use and availablity.

Hope this helps...,
Umesh Thota.

How do I use fdisk.exe?? I also brought this problem up to my friend and he
asked if I use a Dell computer? He said he's had problems doing that on Dell
computers (and it is a Dellt hat I use) Thanks for your help thus far!!!!!
