Installation/Reinstallation Problem

Installed XP Pro on new computer. Instead of installing on the partition I
wanted (30gig), it took the bigger one (250 gig). Tried to reinstall.
Deleted and refomatted the partition in Recovery console, which it said was
suscessful.
Now the computer is "missing" 20 gigs from the drive it was installed and I
get a non compatible partition error in set up even when I re-partition and
reformat

Please Help!

Problem fixed - used the manufactuers diagnostics disk to scan the drives.
Windows decided it wanted to load after that.
