Reinstalling Windows XP Pro after reformat problems

I have no luck getting thorugh the installation of Win XP Pro (new PC
edition) I recieved when I bought my system. I have replaced my video card
and reformatted the harddrive (wanted to delete three partitions and make
them into one) using the Windows installation disk (selected NTFS both long
and quick versions). After the format was complete I have not been able to
reinstall Windows XP again. I get stops in the "setup loading files" part of
install during Kernel Debugger.dll and sometimes during "FAT file system"
install. At times I have gotten further only to find blue screen problems
like Driver_IRQL_not _less_or_equal messeges or Page_Fault_ in_nonpaged_area.
This systema has had Windows installed before with no problems. Any
suggestions out there?

All of my hardware is original (minus the new video card of course) except my
CD-ROM drive. A technician in a local PC boutique told me that I should
switch the MSI DVD/CD-ROM drive to a CD-ROM drive only. He said that I might
have better luck getting through this problem. Others advised in other
newsgroup questions to remove all hardware except the basics. I have little
more than that connected (nothing more than when I originally installed the
Win XP Pro OS.

Thanks for the advice. I'm quite sure that I did delete all prtitions then
create a single one, later formatting in NTFS. My only other questions
regarding the partitioning is should I do it every time that I feel it is
necessary to reformat the harddrive? Does it make any difference if I
already have it setup as one drive that is reformatted only and am ready to
install Win XP again? Due to some of my installation problems I have run
format (both long and quick at different times) to reduce the chance of
errors in installation.

Aside, why is it that even after formatting the harddrive Windows XP setup
can still tell me to go back into Windows and uinstall drivers or software?
Doesn't format basically wipe out the stuff on my disk? I keep seeing such
things on blue screen messages during setup "creating list of files to be
copied" crashes. What's up with that?

I advise you to take your machine to a service technician, since you seem
incapable of doing even the simplest thing such as installing your OS.

Never mind that I have been building and repairing systems for myself and
others for the last ten years. Never mind that I have installed Win 3.1, Win
95, Win 98 Win ME in systems over the same time period. Never mind that the
OS keeps getting higher in price and more difficult to install (look at all
your installation problem threads in this newsgroup heading "setup and
deployment"). Never mind that poeple like to upgrade their suytem without
troubles. You reap what you sew. Go Linux!!!
