XP Pro continues to reboot after reinstallation

Due to a virus I decided to reinstall Win XP Pro from my CD.

I deleted all partitions and reformatted the hard drive. Followed the
directions to install XP Pro and when the process indicated that ot would
reboot to Windows the reboot process continued to cycle without getting to
Win XP PRO.

I tried a repair of this installation with the same result.

I tried to get to Safe Mode and other various OS options with no success.

The sytem just ocntually cycles thorugh the first to pages of the boot
process.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

When does it reboot? What does it get to? Make sure to describe it in detail
and be clear.

Whilst waiting for a reply I tried it again and there is a prompt which
basically says system will reboot to Windows. Hit enter to continue. Then
below it is a red prgressive bar saying system will reboot in 15 secs.

Every other time I have hit "Enter" this time I let the timer go to the
full 15 secs and it rebooted to windows. Maybe I misread the prompt but I
don't think so. Its very ambiguous.

Unfotunately I had used an older copy of Windows Xp Pro rather than my new
copy with SP2 included. So Im going thorugh the process again with SP2
enabled version which will save time updating later.

Anyway I will repost when I know the outcome.

Interesting when I use the XP PRO with SP2 CD the formatting recognises all
500MB of the hard drive whereas the older XP PRO CD install only recognised
approx 300MB. It will be worth waiting the extra foramtting time for the
extra 200Mb of hard disk space.

GB...
Not MB...

I now have a system working as Win XP PRO so the fix was simply letting the
PC reboot itself....

Thnx Brian for your reply
