Reinstalling windows picture and fax viewer?

Hi,

Somehow my picture and fax viewer got corrupt and I can't
use it or see thumbnails. I am forced to use IE right
now to view pictures. Is their any way to repair or
reinstall it? Thank you very much.

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll (there is a space between the 2 and s)

message:

"shimgvw.dll" is not an executable file and no
registration helper is registered for this type of file.

What would your reccomend I try next?

Try it one more time...

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

If that fails....try the following:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"regsvr32 %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and %)

If that fails...go to...C:\Windows\System32
and verify that your shimgvw.dll resides there.

Seems strange i am having the same problem which only

None of the steps worked and I kept getting the same
error message however I did verify that the file is in
the system32 directory. So it is there but still not
working. Thanks in advance for your help.

I wonder if a new copy of the file would
make a difference? A ciopy can be
downloaded from the following site:

http://dll.webzila.com/

Or...maybe if you unregister the file...
you could then re-register it.

disable
REGSVR32 /U SHIMGVW.DLL

enable
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
